God of War Ragnarok may have only been out for a few days, but it’s been known for quite some time that a small team is working on another project at Santa Monica Studio. Now that development on Kratos and Atreus’ new adventure is complete, the bulk of the studio can move on. This is confirmed Cory Barlog at Los Angeles Times, teasing the future of the studio.
A new God of War already in the pipeline?
The studio has just completed a job that will have required four years of effort, but it is already thinking about what’s next. Barlog again confirmed this by stating that Santa Monica Studio is working on “ many different things »without saying whether this included a new god of war or not.
But Eric Williamsdirector of Ragnaroksays in turn thatthere would be no harm in the studio devoting itself solely to this license :
” I remember talking to someone from another video game company, where they were trying to hire me. He said, “Do you just want to be known as the guy from God of War for the rest of your life? “. Was that your big argument to dissuade me? ‘Cause yes, I think I kinda want it. »
Already in 2021, the studio was starting to recruit for an unannounced project, but in parallel with the latter, it is hard to see the studio putting aside its favorite license. What is certain, that the studio will now have more projects than ever, hoping that the quality of these will be equivalent to that of Ragnarok.
