New film project for Saoirse Ronan: The actress has landed the leading role in director Steve McQueen’s World War epic “Blitz”.
Saoirse Ronan (28) has gotten a new job: The Irish-American actress, who has already been nominated four times for an Oscar, will play the leading role in Steve McQueen’s (52) planned world war epic “Blitz” for the streaming provider Apple TV +. This is reported, among other things, by “Variety”.
The drama was scripted by McQueen, who won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2014 for his film 12 Years a Slave. “Blitz” is about a London group who witness the bombing of the English capital by the German Luftwaffe during World War II.
Filming will start in 2022
According to the report, filming is expected to begin later this year. It is not yet known who is in front of the camera next to Ronan. McQueen not only wrote the war epic, but also directed and produced it.
