SAP: Plans to leave Russia are gaining momentum

(CercleFinance.com) – The German enterprise software designer SAP unveiled new measures on Tuesday aimed at ceasing its activities in Russia, a country in which it had been present for more than 30 years.

The group, which had already stopped its commercial activities for Russia and Belarus, indicates that it is now in the process of ending all of its cloud-related businesses in the country.

In this case, SAP plans to give its Russian customers not subject to Western sanctions the choice between recovering their data, erasing it or transferring it to centers outside of Russia.

For those opting for a data migration, SAP warns that it will not extend existing contracts.

Regarding internal platforms, that is to say located on the own servers managed by customers (‘on-premise), the group intends to terminate all support and maintenance contracts that had been concluded in the country.

SAP recalls that it recently added 700,000 euros to its fund intended to support Ukrainian refugees, bringing its total contribution to the project to 3.7 million euros.
