Sarah Connor has already “dealt with depression all her life”. In an Instagram post, the singer can now look deep into her soul – for a very specific reason.

“Depression, suicidal thoughts, self-hatred. I know these feelings myself,” writes Sarah Connor, 41, on Instagram. In several pictures and in a long Instagram post, the singer not only grants an intimate glimpse into her soul. She also wants to educate – with a very special song.

Sarah Connor “was desperate and didn’t know what to do with [ihrer] Anxiety.”

Sarah Connor looks nowhere in two blurry black and white pictures. On each written: “Trapped in the thought labyrinth”, “Alone, although there are many people here”. There are lines from her new single “Stark”. “The song is for a person I love more than anything and who has gone through a very dark time,” explains the pop singer in a long statement on Instagram.

Not only she knows feelings like “depression, suicidal thoughts, self-hatred”. But this time Sarah was on the other side and “had to watch a loved one feel very badly.” The musician confesses: “I was desperate and didn’t know what to do with my fear.” That is why she wrote this song “from the point of view of someone who comforts the sick” – to help the person concerned. Sarah doesn’t want to reveal who it’s about.

“I’ve been dealing with depression all my life”

On the third picture of Sarah Connor’s intimate Instagram post is the following quote: “I’ve been dealing with depression all my life. Just because you’re on stage doesn’t mean you’re invulnerable.” In doing so, she campaigns for “Friends for Life eV” – an association that provides information about mental health and depression “in order to prevent suicides”.

In the last few months, the singer “has often encountered stories that dealt with thoughts of suicide, depression and anxiety.” The father of a friend took his own life. He would have suffered from depression. Everything has only gotten worse since the pandemic, explains Connor.

With Summer’s birth, her anxiety attacks went away

She wants to educate and help others. Therefore Sarah also tells her own story. As early as 2014, she said in an interview with the Vox show “Prominent” that she suffered burnout the year after shooting her reality TV series “Sarah & Marc in Love”, which was broadcast in 2005. It was “burned out” and “empty”. There were also anxiety attacks and depression.

The shock of daughter Summer, who was born with a heart defect in 2006, was not easy, but had a healing effect on Sarah. She said: “When Summer was born, I felt better. My anxiety attacks went away, my loneliness. I had the feeling that it was no longer about me. I have to function now and be there for her.”
