Sarah Engels wanted to criticize constant pregnancy rumors – and thus received critical comments herself.
With this campaign, singer Sarah Engels (31) caused a lot of uproar over the weekend: she posted on May 19th in her Instagram story a photo of herself holding her tummy. She wrote: “Due to the occasion…” and added a pregnancy emoji. It wasn’t until hours later that she made it clear that she wasn’t expecting a baby, but simply wanted to criticize the recurring pregnancy rumors with her posting. But that’s exactly why she received criticism again…
But first things first: The singer is currently enjoying a few nice days in Dubai with her husband Julian Engels (31). Under a photo, which shows her stand-up paddling in front of the Hotel Atlantis, some congratulations appeared on a supposed pregnancy. Because some followers wanted to find out that the singer had gained weight and was probably hiding a baby bump.

The former “DSDS” candidate then reported the alleged pregnancy post, which she later explained as follows: “Dear ones… no, I’m not pregnant, but I’ve actually received an endless number of messages in the last two days that I would look pregnant, if I wasn’t pregnant and wanted to raise awareness of the fact that it can be really hurtful for a woman to be asked if you are pregnant.” Because you never know what might be behind it, whether she would like to become pregnant and is disappointed that she isn’t, or whether she has simply gained a few kilos.
She also showed some of the messages she had received. Finally, Engels said: “I know that most people never mean anything bad and that you would be happy for us.”
Is it all just for attention?
However, she only has a “food belly”, i.e. a stomach filled with good food. In addition to being popular, the singer’s action also found some critical voices. “I hope she’s not just joking. A joke like that isn’t just inappropriate on April 1st,” someone commented immediately after the mysterious belly photo. Another follower said that she was certainly “triggering” a lot of people with her story and was also insensitive in dealing with the “very, very sensitive topic”. Others even accuse the 31-year-old of doing everything just for attention and to stay in the conversation.
She is already a mother of two
Sarah Engels already has two children. She had daughter Solea (2) with Julian Engels in December 2021. Son Alessio (8) comes from her marriage to “DSDS” winner Pietro Lombardi (31), to whom she was married from 2013 to 2019. The singer has a second son with his new partner Laura Maria Rypa (28), and the couple are currently expecting another boy.
