Actress Shannen Doherty (52) has been battling cancer for many years. The “Charmed” star was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2015. In 2020, she announced that she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer again. In June this year, Doherty revealed that the cancer had metastasized to her brain – a shocking update. US actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (46) now finds touching words for her friend and colleague in an interview and also gives a health update.

“She is unbelievable”, Gellar tells Access Hollywood about Doherty, who became known in the 1990s through the US series “Beverly Hills, 90210”. “When you talk about a warrior, she is a warrior. She lives and fights every day.” Her friend goes through “ups and downs” in terms of health, Gellar continues. “There are days that are harder than others and there are days that are easy. But she’s doing great.”

Shannen Doherty “gets back up every day”

Doherty himself shares on her Instagram profile regular updates on their health status. In mid-October, the actress reported a “hard day”. “But I pick myself up every day and hope that I’ll feel better,” the 52-year-old wrote alongside a photo.

In September, Shannen Doherty appeared at a trade fair alongside “Beverly Hills, 90210” colleagues such as Tori Spelling (50), Jason Priestley (54) and Jennie Garth (51) and answered questions from the audience. Towards the end of the question period, the audience rose to their feet and applauded Doherty for her public battle against breast cancer. “Thank you very much,” she called out to the audience. “You know how much I love crying all the time. And I do now, it seems. So, thank you.”

Doherty decided early on to openly discuss her illness in order to encourage other sufferers. “It’s not about being a warrior or a survivor. It’s about continuing to live and grow with cancer,” she wrote October 2020 on Instagram.
