A man in his forties was taken into police custody this Saturday evening in Vion (Sarthe) after hitting his brother with a hatchet, following a family dispute.
The incident took place around 9 p.m. According to information from France Bleu, the two brothers, drunk during their exchange, would have argued and then fought. One of them would then have struck a hatchet on the head of his victim.
Some family members tried to intervene. The alleged perpetrator’s wife tried to stop her husband by hitting him on the head with a glass bottle.
The latter would then have gone into the street to attack a car with a pitchfork.
Two gendarmerie patrols were mobilized to restore calm in the family home.
The victim was taken to hospital. His vital prognosis would not be engaged.
His brother was taken into custody for attempted murder.
An investigation has also been opened.
