This time it’s serious: at a press conference in London, Colonel Pam Melroy, former astronaut, pilot of the American space shuttle during two missions, and today deputy administrator of NASA, announced that satellites currently in orbit could be used to monitor unidentified aerial phenomena: “One of the questions we ask ourselves is: ‘We have tons of satellites pointed at the Earth, are they all useful?'”. The answer being obviously ‘no’, the American space agency confirms that several satellites will be reassigned to the surveillance of UFOs…

“Before building and sending a rover to Mars, you have to ask yourself: ‘What sensor do I have to build to detect the most interesting things?’ So they’re really going to focus on that,” continued Pam Melroy.
This announcement is a direct consequence of the establishment in November 2021 of the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group, a team in charge of monitoring unidentified aerial phenomena, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and several other agencies, including The NASA.
Pam Melroy does not prejudge the nature or origin of these intrusions but recalls the need to collect “evidence” to determine “whether it is an optical phenomenon or something else entirely.”
Last June, the head of NASA himself, Bill Nelson, former astronaut and Democratic senator, had summed up this new mission of the agency in very clear terms: “We take UFOs very seriously. Hundreds of objects have been spotted and a few of them have been identified, they may be balloons, but most of them remain unexplained. So I asked NASA to approach this subject from a scientific point of view, since we are a scientific research organization. In about eight months there will be a report.”
