In “Die Höhle der Löwen” the founders Judith Williams delighted with their “Sause”. An effervescent tablet as a soap substitute, is that possible? I tested “Sause – The Soap Shower”.

No plastic, fewer CO2 emissions – just save the environment. This is how the modest project, with which Moritz Simsch and Sebastian Jung dared in “Die Höhle der Löwen”, could be summed up. There they met open ears and eyes. Because the founders have come up with an extremely small solution to the major problem of climate change: They produce soap in the form of tiny effervescent tablets.

Save the environment with “Sause”

“Sause – Die Seifenbrause” is to replace the approximately 480 million plastic soap dispensers that are used in Germany every year. Because for the “Sause” you should only need a dispenser, made of glass, and a small cardboard box with effervescent tablets that are dissolved in water.

We grew up together on the North Sea and stood on the dike with our parents 25 years ago to fight with fairy lights to raise the protective wall. We have been dealing with climate change since we were children and we hope to be able to make a difference for our environment with our commitment, “say the founders at their appearance in” Die Höhle der Löwen “. The desire to have children to save the world should now become a reality.

Can “Sause – Die Seifenbrause” in “Die Höhle der Löwen” convince?

“I only invest in products that offer people real added value,” Lioness Judith Williams clarified – and she saw that in the soap shower straight away: “With her business idea, ‘Sause’ is helping to reduce plastic waste.” In the Vox show, the founders were able to inspire Judith Williams, who ultimately invested in the startup.

But can environmental rescue really be that simple? We tested the simple solution to the big plastic problem in the BRIGITTE editorial team. Because we know from our own experience: Sustainable options should be as close to everyday life as possible so that you can actually use them.

That “Sause” starter set consists of a brown glass soap dispenser and a pack of soap suds. It contains ten effervescent tablets that should make a total of 1000 milliliters of soap liquid. That means you should be able to wash your hands around 240 times. Incidentally, the surfactant is obtained from coconut oil, the essential oils come from organic production and the product is completely vegan.

This is how the “Sause” works

  • Screw on the soap dispenser made of glass.
  • Fill in 100 milliliters of water – up to the mark.
  • Put in an effervescent tablet from the cardboard packaging.
  • Wait 30 minutes with the lid open and let it dissolve.
  • Screw on the soap dispenser, pump – the finished soap foam comes out.

My experience with the soap shower from “The Lion’s Den”

It is quick and easy to use. Because the 100ml mark is already printed on the soap dispenser, preparation is really uncomplicated: you fill in water, add the effervescent tablet and wait half an hour.

I then do the first test. The first time I wash my hands, I’m skeptical: the liquid may now be a little milky, but I can’t see any real change. But then comes the surprise: When pumping, really nice foam appears on the hand.

The “Sause” is easy to distribute and not only leaves the skin feeling soft, clean, but also a pleasant scent. I first chose the lavender-lemongrass variant and love the unobtrusive smell – zero chemical, completely natural.

My conclusion on the “Sause”

I have already tested the “Sause” for several days. I’m really surprised how little soap you use. A lot of foam always comes out and yet the soapy water is only very slowly becoming less. Since there are ten effervescent tablets in each pack, I’ll have some of the soap for a long time to come. So it is practical in two ways: You do something for the environment by doing without the plastic bottle – and you always have a supply of soap on hand that fits into a tiny cardboard box and doesn’t even take up space. Right now people wash their hands very often – the soap is really good for the environment and for the skin. For me a real alternative to liquid soap from the drugstore. I will stick with it.
