Save at the pump: Comparing petrol prices also works without an app

In times of skyrocketing fuel prices, gas stations are under close scrutiny. Where fuel is already far too expensive, nobody wants to pay more than absolutely necessary. It’s a good thing that the Federal Cartel Office is helping to compare.

Since the end of 2013, its market transparency office for fuels has been collecting the current prices at filling stations nationwide and is currently passing them on to almost 50 information service providers, who then bring the price data to the consumer.

Almost all services also offer apps. The installation of an application alone seems almost oversized for the task at hand. Worse still, a tank app usually brings annoying ads and lots of trackers to your smartphone.
