Families on the plane testified that they saw the pilot come out of the cockpit as soon as the side door opens to escape without looking back. “It was completely shocking,” testifies Andrew Benion, 50, who was present on the device at the time of the facts. “As soon as a stewardess opened the front door, the captain ran away. He had just left. He was the first to get off the plane,” he added.

The whole crew fled after him

In his testimony, Andrew Benion, also confided that although shocking, this scene was worthy of a real comedy. After all, the whole crew ran after the pilot also to escape. “Then his entire crew ran after him and left us all. There was only one stewardess left on the plane and you could read the fear on her face,” adds the british 50 years old. It is this hostess who would have yelled at everyone to get down from the plane. “The Spaniard next to us translated and said, ‘The plane is on fire'”, added Andrew Benion.

According to the words of this piping engineer from Telford, all the passengers eventually got off the plane. After a few procedures which he qualifies as “icy”, they were taken on another plane and thatanother captain came to apologize. “We eventually took off, but the atmosphere on the plane was terribly bad – no refreshments or drinks or anything,” according to Andrew Benion.
