Schellhorn: – “We are looking for larger quarters”

More and more refugees are flocking to Austria and thus also to Salzburg. New quarters are needed. From container villages to new wooden houses, everything seems possible

According to the green state deputy Heinrich Schellhorn, the country is looking for new quarters for 400 to 500 asylum seekers and also for displaced people from Ukraine. Numerous options are currently being reviewed and processed. The priority for Schellhorn is clear: “We are looking for larger quarters.” What are they? This cannot be said publicly at this time. Communication is only given “when things get serious.” The whole country is looked at and all possibilities are considered. The old Asfinag site in Salzburg Liefering was offered to the federal government so that containers could be set up there. The federal government is examining this option. The country deliberately wants to prevent tents. So far, only Ukrainian refugees have been accommodated in Tamsweg. That should change at least in one house now. The possibility of wooden houses is also in the focus of state politics and locations are being sought. “The quarters just don’t happen overnight,” emphasizes the Deputy Governor.
