Stefanie Hertel covered a Falco hit in an anniversary edition of the “ZDF Hit Parade” on July 10, 2021. Unfortunately, that didn’t go down well everywhere. The Twitter community was in full swing.

Stefanie Hertel (41) beams into the camera and starts the Falco hit “Rock Me Amadeus”. A huge picture of the deceased cult Austrian appears behind her. At the time, the pop singer would certainly not have suspected that this appearance in the second edition of the anniversary show “50 years of the ZDF hit parade – the encore” on July 10, 2021 would backfire.

Stefanie Hertel’s Falco cover backfires

The first anniversary show for the 50th birthday of the “ZDF Hit Parade” 2019 was so successful that the broadcaster put on an encore show. No less a person than show master Thomas Gottschalk (71) led through the evening. Pop stars like Jürgen Drews (76), Roland Kaiser (69) or Michelle (49) gave each other the handle.

5.51 million viewers: tuned in. Top rate! Stefanie Hertel also performed a song that Saturday evening, but not hers. She dared to watch Falco’s popular 80s hit “Rock Me Amadeus”. The network reacted promptly, unfortunately to the disadvantage of the TV presenter.

Pop singer in the Twitter thunderstorm

Under the hashtag “Hitparade” a number of voices gathered on Twitter who criticized the singer’s performance. “Stefanie Hertel sings Falco? But that really didn’t have to be,” tweeted a user.

Others felt sorry for Falco and wondered why Stefanie sang the song at all, because “Falco wasn’t a pop artist”.

Bitter comments that should not pass the pop star without a trace. On the same evening as the “ZDF hit parade” was broadcast, the musician was back on stage at the summer open air in Carinthia’s Nockbergen and outshone all worries.
