Schlumberger: collaborates to reduce its carbon footprint

(CercleFinance.com) – Schlumberger announced today that it has partnered with Gradiant to introduce key sustainable technology into the process of producing battery-grade lithium compounds.

In direct lithium extraction, Gradiant technology is used to concentrate the lithium solution and generate fresh water, an essential component of sustainable lithium production from brine.

“Unprecedented growth in demand for this critical mineral requires high-quality production without compromising sustainability,” said Gavin Rennick, president of Schlumberger’s New Energy business.

This collaboration will enable the lithium industry to meet the growing demand for minerals with an unprecedented level of water use, simultaneously reducing fresh water consumption and waste water.

“The sustainability impact of Schlumberger’s integrated process, combined with Gradiant’s solutions, is a game-changer in the lithium production market,” said Prakash Govindan, COO of Gradiant.
