If the reputation of Schneider is no longer to be demonstrated in the field of household appliances, the manufacturer has never distinguished itself as a specialist in floor maintenance. While it has only sold stick vacuum cleaners until now, French presents is marketing the SCVC226HB robot vacuum cleaner.

On this model, no camera or laser rangefinder. To move around in its environment, it is equipped with gyroscopic technology. Thanks to it, the manufacturer ensures that the device will not pass twice in the same place. We are still curious to test it as the technology seems anachronistic (obsolete?). While most of its competitors are equipped with a camera, a laser rangefinder or both at the same time, the SCVC226HB ignores these three assumptions.

Schneider claims that the 200ml dust collector and 100-120min runtime would be enough to clean up to 150m² of area. On each side of the robot, two side brushes are responsible for directing the waste towards the center to better capture it. This is all the more significant as the robot knows how to find dust in the smallest corners, especially under furniture, thanks to its 7.6 cm height. Delivered without a docking station capable of emptying the collector, the user will have to carry out the maintenance himself.

The water tank also has a capacity of 200 ml. Because yes, the SCVC226HB comes with a microfiber cloth to install on the back. We don’t have more information on this feature, but it seems identical to that of the Dreame L10 Pro, for example. In other words, it is a simple wipe moistening the floor and not real mops relieving the user of the cleaning chore, as those of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo approach.

Finally, the Schneider comes with a remote control to program its suction mode, a delayed start or to control it through the rooms of the home. However, we have no details regarding the mobile app. Would the robot more easily do without an internet connection? You would have to test the device to be sure…

The SCVC226HB is sold at €199 in supermarkets, specialized stores and marketplaces.
