SchoKK in love: Mia Julia fears for her existence due to the Corona crisis

Mia Julia starts with Frenzy as the duo SchoKKverliebt. The Corona crisis is "a financial catastrophe" for the two friends.

The new party duo SchoKKverliebt released their debut album – with the appropriate title "Porno". The singers Mia Julia (33) and Frenzy made their collaboration official in 2020 after several years of collaboration. How the two deal with criticism and what the corona crisis means for the party scene, Mia Julia reveals in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

How did you come up with the name SchoKKverliebt?

Mia Julia: We thought about what would suit us for a long time. When we recorded the first track together in the studio, we were still nameless. Our manager watched us when we simply escalated again in the studio and said: "I got it, I looked at you and was immediately in love with shock." So the name was too sweet for us – don't get it wrong, we can be that too – but we definitely wanted to include our "bad girls" page and that's how the two hard KK in the name came about.

Why did you decide to make your collaboration official after a few years?

Mia Julia: Frenzy and I already made a Mallorca-style song together in 2019 with the title "Wir sind Wir". We have become best friends and love to escalate the fans together on stage. We wanted to repeat the whole thing this year and so we recorded another song. We got into it and it was so much fun that it just happened to become an entire album. And if there is a time to try it out and "just do it", now is the time. Usually Frenzy and I play our gigs at different events every day without Corona, so we wouldn't have time for such a project.

Are you now going to quit your solo careers?

Mia Julia: Absolutely not! My solo album should be big this year. But it just doesn't make sense to put out a Mia-style party lifestyle album right now without any kind of events, events and clubs. We have now thrown everything overboard and will start all over again in September from scratch. My fans can look forward to the best Mia album of all time in spring 2021.

Do you sometimes get criticism for your often ambiguous lyrics or your revealing outfits?

Mia Julia: Of course it happens, but it's a very small part and I'm also happy about criticism. It is known that I once shot porn, like to talk about my erotic lifestyle and, above all, like to nag every now and then. I have had an account with "onlyfans" for a few weeks, and I will go one step further here too. I don't have to please everyone, but I don't let anyone take it away from just doing what I want, even if I get "pissed off" for it. I don't fit in any drawer, so I don't even crawl in.

The year 2020 is particularly tough for the party scene because of the coronavirus pandemic. How much are you financially affected?

Mia Julia: For artists who, like me, live from the live business, it's a financial catastrophe, there is no other way of putting it. With the exception of a few drive-in cinemas and smaller events that can be played depending on the circulation, our income from the live business has dropped almost 100 percent. The uncertainty of when it will be possible to play in front of a larger audience again makes things worse.

I don't want to complain, of course we have been able to build up a little cushion over the years, which we now live on and try to keep our two permanent employees and our company running with all fixed costs. I've always said: "I'm not broke, I'm afraid for my existence". The question that will decide between good and bad is, "Can we hold out that long?" A question that, understandably, no one can answer at the moment.

Clubs in Germany are still largely closed. How do you rate this situation?

Mia Julia: Dramatic, for the entire event, music and entertainment scene. So many jobs and livelihoods are at stake. Here, too, the hope is disappearing every day that we can at least go on a tour of the clubs in winter.

At the moment you mostly appear in drive-in theaters. How do you manage to create as much atmosphere there as usual?

Mia Julia: As early as April, my management, together with local organizers, successfully worked out the concept of the "drive-in movie party event" in compliance with all safety and hygiene requirements. We were very skeptical, but wanted to form our own picture. We have now played more than 15 drive-in party concerts and no one on our team wants to miss just one appearance. We felt such enormous gratitude and love from the fans that we got goosebumps non-stop. Thank you to all the fans who experienced this tour with us.

What do you think of the current situation and the restrictions on Mallorca?

Mia Julia: The situation is of course extremely dramatic for Mallorca. Due to the travel warning, tourism, which was already minimalist, was reduced even further this year. I am worried about many existences. What we must not forget is that the long and hard winter with no income is yet to come.

Do you think that the shooter is about to run out?

Mia Julia: We can really only guess. My guess is that the classic shooter as we know him will have a harder time in the next few years. I am sure that the partying will continue, just in a way that we cannot foresee yet. I can imagine that it will move from a mass event to a pub and club culture. But as I said, all of this is nothing more than a look into the crystal ball.
