fun, news, tips… what else?

After a massively followed one-day strike last Thursday, a large majority of teachers’ unions are ready to renew their movement in the coming weeks.

The massively followed strike of Thursday January 13 was an undeniable success. Two-thirds of teachers in the second degree were strikers and nearly three-quarters in the first degree. A real success for the unions, which forced the government to receive the organizations and make meager announcements. However, the latter do not meet the demands of the teachers’ unions.

This is why a large majority of them are calling for a week of mobilizations with a day of action this Thursday, January 20, including by strike depending on local decisions. This continuation of the movement will allow staff to once again express their fed up with the school’s situation. Indeed, the demands of the unions are numerous, in particular on a health level.

#MySchoolCrack

The current protocol still exhausts staff and disrupts schools without securing them. Several unions are calling for the return of the old protocol, which consisted of closing a class as soon as a positive case was detected among the students.
Regarding the means made available to teachers and school staff, those granted on Thursday will not be sufficient to respond to the urgency of the situation. The unions are demanding more replacements by increasing places in future competitions and by adopting a collective budget to finance more positions.

The unions are demanding an emergency plan to meet the challenges of the health crisis and fight against educational inequalities. The SNUipp, with the FSU, therefore calls on staff, teachers and AESH, to mobilize this Thursday, January 20 everywhere in France in front of schools during the lunch break by posting “My school is cracking” and spreading the images on social networks with the hashtag #MonEcoleCraque.

The unions do not intend to stop now, this week of mobilization aims to maintain pressure on the government and must lead to a massive strike next Thursday, January 27 alongside private sector employees and other civil servants.
