Vettel shines one last time in Formula 1 qualifying

Mick Schumacher achieved a respectable success as a temporary farewell to Formula 1: In the qualification for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he clearly won the Haas-internal duel. Sebastian Vettel makes it into the top ten. World champion Max Verstappen takes pole position for the season finale.

World champion Max Verstappen has secured the last pole position of the Formula 1 season. In qualifying in Abu Dhabi, the Red Bull driver beat his teammates Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari.

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) will start his 299th and final Grand Prix from ninth place and put in a strong performance under the floodlights. Mick Schumacher, who does not get a new contract with Haas, starts from position 13.

In the fight for the vice world championship behind Verstappen, Perez is slightly ahead of Leclerc. Both go into the last race of the season on Sunday (2 p.m. / Sky) with the same number of points, but Leclerc is currently second in the world championship because of the more victories achieved.

Verstappen, who is on pole for the 20th time in Formula 1, can extend his record at the Yas Marina Circuit to 15 wins in one season.

More on that shortly.
