Schwarzenegger back in the sequel to this cult 1980s comedy?

Released in 1989 in France, Jumeaux brought together Danny DeVito and the colossus Arnold Schwarzenegger. The latter finally gives news of the sequel, announced 10 years ago!

The Twins Julius and Vincent, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, will they finally find each other? Directed in 1988 by Ivan Reitman, this comedy made an impression thanks to the improbable duet it staged.

The sequel, Triplets, was launched in 2012, bringing together the same team as the first part. A new kid even joins the merry troop: Eddie Murphy.

Unfortunately, the project got bogged down before Schwarzy pulled it out of the drawer in 2017:

“We’re working on Triplets right now. It’s at the top of my list because I’ve been trying to do it for 20 years. Ivan Reitman believes in it. Danny DeVito too, he’s always believed in it, and Eddie Murphy believes in it. It’s okay be great! We’re looking forward to that.”confided the interpreter of the Terminator at the microphone of EW.

Note that this sequel was ultimately not so high on the list of the actor, because the project is still forgotten. It was thought that it would be definitively buried after the death of its director, Ivan Reitman, on February 12, but apparently this is not the case.

Questioned during Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Schwarzy let it be known that Triplets was still relevant.

“We suffered a blow after the death of Ivan Reitman, who had directed the first Twins, and who was to take over the controls on Triplets. Now, we have to wait a bit to digest, mourn, and put the project back on Table”he said.

“We were supposed to shoot in October 2022 and it could still be the case. But now we have to look for another director and see if we will continue with this project”he pointed out.

Arnold does not specify if Eddie Murphy is still attached to the project. In any case, Schwarzy, 74, and DeVito, 77, no longer have much choice: it’s now or never. We will know more this fall, if the filming finally starts!
