Wrestling legend Razor Ramon has died

Wrestling fans and companions mourn the loss of Scott Hall. The American, who rose to superstardom in the 1990s as “Razor Ramon”, died at the age of 63 after hip surgery.
The wrestling world mourns the loss of one of its 1990s superstars, Scott Hall, who died at the age of 63. Hall became famous for his role as the slightly villainous, sleazy Cuban exile “Razor Ramon”. Despite his role as a villain, from 1992 he quickly became a crowd favorite in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), the most important organization for showsport weddings. Thousands admired the American in the largest arenas, many millions watched his sometimes legendary matches from home.
Hall achieved the feat of being inducted into his sport’s Hall of Fame twice, in 2014 for his performances as “Razor Ramon.” In 2021, World (WWE) Wrestling Entertainment recognized him as part of the “New World Order” he founded with fellow wrestlers Kevin Nash and superstar Hulk Hogan. The WWE, the successor organization to the WWF, has now confirmed the athlete’s death.
Hall was hospitalized last week for hip surgery, which apparently resulted in severe complications: US media reports of three heart attacks that the 63-year-old is said to have suffered. The former athlete, who was one of the crowd pullers in various leagues, was apparently dependent on life-sustaining devices in his final hours.
“Villains Stay”
It was Kevin Nash who broke the devastating news of his best friend’s health to the wrestling world over the weekend: “Scott is currently on life support. Once his family is in place they will be off life support,” the former wrestler wrote on Instagram. “I’m going to lose the one person on this planet I’ve spent more of my life with than anyone else. My heart is broken and I’m so damn sad. I love Scott with all my heart but now I have to live my life without prepare him.”
Hall has been on some of the biggest shows in wrestling history, his ladder match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 10 (1994) sticking in the collective memory of wrestling fans, as does his 2002 comeback, where he faced “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 18 fought. He held the WCW World Tag Team Championships seven times but never won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and will go down in history as one of the finest professional wrestlers never to have won a world title in a major promotion.
Trademark: Toothpick
As Ramon, Hall was known for his cool demeanor as well as his gold chains and toothpicks, which he threw at his opponents before fights. His career on the big stage ended in 2010, the same year he was fitted with a pacemaker and a defibrillator. During his successful career, Hall struggled with alcohol and drug problems.
“Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don’t last, but bad guys do,” Hall said in 2014 when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as “Razor Ramon.” Wrestling fans will remember him best for his role as the Cuban Bad Guy. Kevin Nash wrote of his friend Hall: “My life has been enriched by his approach to life. He wasn’t perfect, but as he always said, ‘The last perfect person to walk the planet, they nailed it to a cross.’ I’ll see you down the road Scott. I couldn’t love anyone more than you.”
