Scream: a sixth film will see the light of day

Building on the box office success of the last “Scream”, a sixth installment has just been officially ordered by the production companies Skyglass and Paramount.

The production of this new opus will see the duo of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return to their place behind the camera. And James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick writing the screenplay. Production of this sixth film in the Scream saga is due to begin this summer.

“We are incredibly grateful to fans around the world for their enthusiastic reception of this film. We can’t wait for the public to find out what the teams have planned for the Woodsboro family,” Spyglass and Paramount said in a statement to US site The Hollywood Reporter.

Despite a mixed critical reception, the fifth installment of Scream managed to accumulate more than 100 million dollars in revenue worldwide, or more than 87 million euros. It was the first installment in the franchise not to be directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015, and to whom the film pays homage. No casting information has been released at this time.
