Google is not known for knowing how to keep secrets. While the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have been available for sale for less than a month, the next generation of high-end smartphones from the firm is already the subject of some indiscretions.

The German site WinFuture, generally very well informed about the new technologies industry, claims to have already received initial information about the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. These two smartphones would actually be known internally as “ husky ” and ” shiba“. Canine code names that would change from the ichthyan, feline, or avian codes used so far by the manufacturer.

Above all, WinFuture got some features from both smartphones. From what to discover that the model “shibashould be the Pixel 8, while the “huskywould be the Pixel 8 Pro. The first would indeed be equipped with a Full HD + screen of 2268 x 1080 pixels while the second would benefit from a display of 2922 x 1344 pixels. In both cases, the smartphone screen would benefit from a rather original ratio of 18.9:9.

12 GB RAM

Moreover, in addition to these display definitions, the two smartphones should also benefit from a new processor known under the code name “Zuma“. If it should keep the same 5G modem as the Tensor 2 chip, this SoC could be a variation of Samsung’s future Exynos 2300 chip. Remember that, until now, the two Tensor chips used on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 were already designed in partnership with Samsung. AccordingWinFuturethe Pixel 8 would also be equipped with a 12 GB RAM, which would clearly position them in the segment of high-end smartphones.

For now,WinFuturenevertheless remains very cautious about the identity of these two smartphones. The German site does indicate that the fact that it is the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is only “pure speculation“, even if the screen ratio actually tends to assimilate them to high-end smartphones in the classic format, and not to folding smartphones.

Anyway, we will have to wait several more months before the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are officially unveiled. The devices could first be presented at the Google I / O conference next spring – as was the case with the Pixel 7 – before formalization in the fall of 2023.
