Searches were underway Thursday morning at the Nice-Côte-d’Azur Metropolis, targeting the public procurement service, we learned from judicial sources.
Searches are in progress, in particular in the premises of Nice Métropole, within the framework of a judicial investigation followed by the National Jurisdiction for the fight against organized crime (Junalco), in particular of the leaders of influence peddling, fraud in an organized gang , abuse of corporate and forged assets and use of forgery since November 2022, we learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
These searches relate to the project to build a building near the station, said a source familiar with the matter. They relate to the Iconic, a vast 19,000 m2 building under construction near Nice train station, according to another source.

The Nice-Cte-d’Azur metropolis has confirmed that a search is underway in a building to the west of the city which would concern the Iconic project, in a press release sent to AFP.
The city and the metropolis are unaware of this whole stage of the procedure on the nature or on the scope of the investigations, specifies the press release, stressing that the director general of the services has been asked to respond promptly to all the requests made by the investigators.

If it turns out that a public official is implicated in this procedure, the metropolis would then initiate suspension measures, the metropolis further indicated.
The Iconic, a 19,000 m property complex designed by American architect Daniel Libeskind, which includes a prestigious hotel, offices and shops and whose construction has been delayed, is due for delivery in the spring of 2023.
