Season goal missed – upheaval at Ferlachern: coach is gone!

Coach Alen Mihalj leaves Ferlach’s handball girls – Patrick Jochum and Anna Buchbauer take over on an interim basis with the first division team. Two players are also gone. “It’s a small upheaval,” says boss Wolfgang Buchbauer.

It’s a messed up season for the first division girls from Ferlach. With twelve points three games before the end, you are only fourth from bottom – far from the actual season goal, the top 4.

And so club boss Wolfi Buchbauer had to react: He ended the cooperation with coach Alen Mihalj with immediate effect. “Co” Patrick Jochum and Anna Buchbauer (graduated as a trainer) take over as a duo. “We would have parted ways with Mihalj after the end of the season – the air was out,” says Buchbauer, who has a Croatian solution on the hook.

From now on, goalkeeper Eva Ribic is also no longer there. Buchbauer: “It stops out of the blue.” And left-hander Ursa Urbancic will switch to Margareten after the season. “It’s a minor change,” emphasizes Buchbauer, who however extended the contracts of the aces Anna Kavalar, Luna Voncina and Petra Fister by one year.
