Hard to believe but true! Waldviertel’s “Ice King” Robin Fraberger celebrated at the end of the season: Because the ice in the family pond has melted, the water is getting too warm for him. According to the “Krone” report, the “postman with the shorts” received a lot of feedback. His siblings, who started it all, are visibly proud.
It all started at Christmas 2020, when the idea of ice bathing in the garden pond came up at Fraberger in Waidhofen an der Thaya. A little later, Robin Fraberger, his four siblings and Mama Martina were already sitting in the pond. But what nobody knew at the time is that Robin will do this two to four times a day from now on. Remain in the water for 20 minutes. “Robin inspired me and gave me tips on how best to behave in ice water,” the 17-year-old thinks it’s great that Robin has become so well known for his passion. Family pond no longer frozen His three brothers are also proud. “What I don’t understand is how you can stay in ice water for more than 30 seconds,” Lucas smiles. “At school, teachers ask me about Robin. And then they tell you where they know him from,” says Armin. And Aron, who couldn’t be there at the end of the season, which was no longer quite so cold, is happy that Robin’s bathing hobby is making waves even more than the fact that he carries the mail all year round in shorts.
