Eden Golan has qualified for Israel alongside nine other countries in the second ESC semi-final on Saturday.

All finalists have been determined: ten more countries have qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in the second semi-final.

All participants in the big ESC final on Saturday (May 11th) have been confirmed. On Thursday evening it took place in Malmö the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place. 16 countries and their acts competed against each other to secure one of the coveted places in the music competition. Thanks to the audience, ten countries survived the qualifying round – including Israel with the artist Eden Golan (20) and her song “Hurricane”.

Her appearance was accompanied according to “Tagesschau” von Gegenwind: In the southern Swedish city, several thousand people demonstrated for the exclusion of Israel from the competition. However, there were also parallel demonstrations by supporters of Israel in Malmö. Israel’s participation in this year’s ESC has been highly controversial for months. At Golan’s performance, however, the audience mostly cheered.

These countries were also happy about the audience’s approval: The Netherlands with Joost Klein and the song “Europapa”, Switzerland with Nemo and “The Code”, Latvia with Dons and “Hollow”, Austria with Kaleen and ” We Will Rave”, Norway with Gåte and “Ulveham”, Greece with Marina Satti and “Zari”, Estonia with 5Miinust & Puuluup and “(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”, Georgia with Nutsa Buzaladze and “Fire Fighter ” and Armenia with Ladaniva and “Jako”.

However, six music acts were unable to sufficiently convince the audience on Thursday evening: the countries Malta, Albania, the Czech Republic, Denmark, San Marino and Belgium were eliminated in the second semi-final.

In the first semi-final, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, Cyprus, Croatia, Ireland and Luxembourg had already qualified for the final round. Of course, the host country Sweden and the so-called “Big Five” countries France, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Germany are also there.
