Second generation – New Lexus NX: plug-in hybrid with top range

“Tazuna” for a new operating concept
When the Japanese put a new car on the market, they like to load their work up with historical images and traditional terms. For example, the cockpit of the new NX should be designed according to the Tazuna concept. The term describes how a rider leads his horse with the reins and accordingly the driver should also have direct and intuitive control over the vehicle. That is why the Lexus engineers have positioned all information and operating elements, infotainment screen, instrument cluster and optional head-up display as well as the start button, gear lever, climate control and driving mode switch in the area of a continuous arm movement. The steering wheel buttons, which can be assigned the functions preferred by the driver, are an example of the intuitive control. When the button is used, its shape appears on the head-up display so that the driver does not have to look down at the steering wheel.
