Abby, a notorious character from the original, will appear in the second season of “The Last of Us” – now it has been revealed who is playing her.

The creators of the extremely successful HBO series “The Last of Us” have cast one of the most important characters in the upcoming second season. Like, among other things The industry site “The Hollywood Reporter” reports that “Dopesick” and “No One Will Save You” star Kaitlyn Dever (27) will take on the role of the complex and highly controversial character Abby.

Fans of the video game series of the same name know that Abby will have a role that will have a massive impact on the course of the upcoming episodes and the relationship of the two main characters of the first season, Ellie (Bella Ramsey, 20) and father figure Joel (Pedro Pascal, 48). . At least if the series creators stay as close to the original in terms of narrative as they did in season one.

The creators Craig Mazin (52) and Neil Druckmann (45) do not see the fact that the petite Devers really looks like the muscular Abby from the video game as a problem. After all, this wasn’t the case with the two main actors Ramsey and Pascal – and yet the fans immediately took them to their hearts.

Regarding the Devers case, they are quoted as saying: “Our approach to casting for season two was identical to that of the first: We are looking for world-class actors who embody the soul of the characters from the original. Nothing is more important than talent and We are thrilled to have renowned performer Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”

However, it will still be some time before viewers get to see her in her new role. Production of the second season is scheduled to start in spring of this year, and a release (probably again via Sky/Wow in this country) is planned for 2025.

Already had a long career

A look at her career to date, which has spanned around 15 years, shows that 27-year-old Dever knows her stuff. Among other things, she starred in Clint Eastwood’s (93) “J. Edgar” alongside Leonardo DiCaprio (49) and was part of the cast of the sitcom “Last Man Standing” with Tim Allen (70) for ten years. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her performances in the series “Unbelievable” and “Dopesick”.

Speaking of the Golden Globes: At the 81st edition a few days ago, “The Last of Us” entered the race with three nominations, but failed to win any of the awards. The production had better luck at the Creative Arts Emmys, which were awarded shortly before the Primetime Emmys – the post-apocalyptic series won eight of them. More could be added at the main event on January 15th.
