Please note, the following details the plot of the first episode of the Marvel Studios series Secret Invasion, now available on Disney+. If you haven’t seen it yet, and don’t want to know anything about its content, then you are strongly recommended to stop reading this article now.
Can you imagine more cruel than bringing an emblematic character back into the Marvel universe… only to kill him! Yet such is the fate reserved for agent Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders, in the brand new production of Marvel studios, Secret Invasion!
This major MCU character had not appeared since Avengers: Endgame in 2019 (except for a short appearance in the animated series, Marvel’s What if). Her more or less unexpected return in Secret Invasion – since she does not appear in the credits of the series – could therefore have had the effect of a good surprise for the fans.
But they did not appreciate seeing Maria Hill die in this first episode, shot down by the Skrull Gravik, hidden in the guise of Nick Fury during an attack perpetrated in Moscow. A brutal end, inevitably badly experienced by the public as evidenced by the many messages posted on social networks shortly after the broadcast of this first episode:
