Security, education, health… A busy schedule for Emmanuel Macron visiting Marseille

The Head of State is going to Marseille from Monday for a three-day visit, presented as the second act of the “Marseille en grand” plan, launched in September 2021. The theme of transport, health, culture will be addressed, as will the theme of safety, to which he will devote his day on Monday.

For this new visit to the Marseille city, the president’s program promises to be busy. Emmanuel Macron must launch the second act of the “Marseille en grand” plan, launched in September 2021, a vast investment project for the city, in particular for transport, housing and education.

Visit of the Baumettes

The Head of State will arrive in Marseille on Monday for a first day on the theme of security, at a time when the settling of deadly scores is increasing. Emmanuel Macron will first take stock of the situation with officers of the judicial police before going to the Baumettes prison, on an extension site which will create 743 new places by 2025.

The president should then close his day, dedicated to security, with a visit to several working-class neighborhoods, particularly to the east and north of Marseille, where he should discuss with the inhabitants.

Travel to a school and a hospital

Tuesday will be about education, health and culture with visits to a school and a hospital. In terms of housing, Emmanuel Macron could go to a degraded condominium to illustrate the urgency of urban renewal. Finally, on Wednesday, the Head of State will chair the Council of Ministers from the prefecture of Marseille. The session will be organized by videoconference with the rest of the executive.
