SEGA announces Hyenas, an FPS from the creators of Alien: Isolation

SEGA wants to take advantage of the Summer Game Fest to unveil a new project from The Creative Assembly. It is an FPS, far from the Total War saga.

The Creative Assembly studio is mainly known for its very good Total War strategy saga but also for its rather crazy work on the excellent Alien: Isolation. In this context, we understand better the choice of SEGA to place its trust in the studio for the development of a brand new FPS. Her name ? Hyenas.

An FPS in a dystopian world

Hyenas is a multiplayer FPS that takes place in a dystopian world in which the polluted and destroying planet Earth is reserved for the poorest while the rich are exiled to Mars. Far from slums and crime. In Hyenas, we play pirates who want to steal the wealth of these famous rich, who come to Earth to steal the little remaining valuable content.

Hyenas changes the rules of the game

This one is called Hyenas and the video above will give you a good overview. Overall the game looks very colorful and offers a cel-shaded type design. More than just a PVP game, it’s actually a PvEvP game in which you also have to face AIs.

The game offers each game five teams of three players to compete in ships. The objective is to leave with as much loot as possible in a given time. We are clearly on a Hunt Showdown principle.

For us, the most important thing in ensuring the success of a shooter is to understand what the players want, and what they hope to gain from the experience. We know that we have an interesting project, but also that the current state of things is against us » says executive producer, David Nicholson. “To compete with the biggest games in the field, you need to know what the players are thinking as soon as possible. If you are interested, we would like to take you with us on this adventure. That’s why after today’s announcement, we’re also opening the first public alpha.

The release of the FPS Hyenas is expected for 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
