The bodies of a 56-year-old mother and her 17-year-old daughter, bearing traces of stab wounds, were found Friday in their apartment in Nemours (Seine-et-Marne).
The victims “probably died by stabbing,” said Arnaud Faugère, the public prosecutor of Fontainebleau, who went there.
The alert was given in the early afternoon by another girl in the family, aged 15, who discovered them on her way home, located in a small building, he said.
An investigation was opened for “intentional homicide”.
“All open hypotheses”
“We cannot exclude that it is a family drama”, but “all hypotheses are possible” at this stage, added the prosecutor.
Findings were in progress. First elements indicated that the accommodation bore no trace of a break-in, according to the prosecution.
The mother, a widow, has no criminal record.
