RB Leipzig is in the final of the DFB Cup after a dramatic 2-1 win against Union Berlin.

The 2nd of 3 minutes of overtime was already running when Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg spiraled into the air in the Union penalty area and nodded off to make it 2-1 – at the same time he completed the “bulls” turn and bought the ticket for the cup final for his colors .

Instead of preparing for the upcoming extension, the people of Leipzig hugged each other. And on the other hand, coach Urs Fischer and his players struggled to keep their composure.

Leipzig proves morality

Until RB’s winning goal, everything pointed to an extension. In the first half, Sheraldo Becker gave the guests from Berlin the lead after a remarkable assist from Christopher Trimmel.

The home side came back into the game after just over an hour: Christopher Nkuku was felled by Paul Jäckel in the penalty area – André Silva kept his nerve from the point and scored to make it 1-1. After that, Domenico Tedesco’s team pushed for the decision – in the 92nd minute they were rewarded for it.

Union misses the second cup final after 2001. Freiburg and Leipzig will decide the title among themselves on May 21st.
