Semiconductors: Apple signs multi-billion dollar mega-deal with Broadcom

Apple continues to distance itself a little more from China. New illustration with signing a contract “multi-billion dollar” with Broadcom to supply the Cupertino company with electronic components made in the United States.

In detail, these are radiofrequency components that allow iPhones to receive 5G. These will come out of several American production lines, including those housed in the Broadcom factory located in Fort Collins, Colorado. “All of Apple’s products depend on technology designed and built here in the United States, and we will continue to deepen our investments in the American economy because we have unwavering faith in America’s future.”rejoiced Tim Cook, the boss of Apple.

This announcement is part of the commitments made by the Californian company in 2021 to invest $430 billion in the American economy over five years. It also confirms the shift taken by Apple to reduce its dependence on China, where the American giant had previously manufactured more than 90% of its products. In this sense, Apple is betting on the United States, but also and above all on India, where 7% of iPhones are now manufactured.
