WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a measure extending government funding until December 16 to avoid a paralysis of federal services (“shutdown”) from Friday midnight, due to lack of budget.

The bill, which also contains $12.3 billion in aid to Ukraine, was approved by 72 votes in favor and 25 votes against. It must now be voted on by the House of Representatives before being sent to President Joe Biden for his promulgation before the deadline.
