Tips and Tricks

Recording or listening to voice messages on WhatsApp is not very convenient. That changes with our tips.

Instead of typing for a long time, many of you prefer to send a voice message on WhatsApp. All you have to do is tap on the microphone in the chat window, keep the button pressed and stop talking. As soon as you let go, your message will be sent. It’s simple, but not very convenient. Because with longer messages, holding down the button can be annoying and maybe you would rather listen to your message again before sending it?

Record without holding down the microphone button and listen before sending

There are solutions for both. In separate instructions, we not only show you how to listen to voice messages before they are sent, but also how to record them without having to hold down the microphone the whole time. Did you know that you can also pause the recording of a voice message and continue later?

Record voice message and send later

Did you know that WhatsApp also allows you to record a voice message and send it later? Messenger does not provide a direct function for this, but there are two workarounds you can use to do this. We will describe them in more detail in the linked instructions.

Voice message too fast or too slow?

Does a voice message play too fast or too slow for your taste? Then you should adjust the playback speed. You can find out how to play voice messages faster or slower on WhatsApp in our linked instructions.

Convert voice message to text

If you don’t have time to listen to a message, you can also convert it to text. Follow the steps in the linked guide.

However, the whole thing is currently only possible on Android and requires the use of a third-party app. A similar feature was recently spotted in the WhatsApp beta for iOS. It is quite possible that Messenger will integrate the function natively into the app in the future.

Until then, you can use a trick on the iPhone. We tell you how you can listen to WhatsApp voice messages undisturbed in public. Of course, the trick also works on Android phones.

Backup or delete voice message

Last but not least, we will of course also show you how to delete voice messages on WhatsApp. If you have received a particularly nice message, you may want to save it and listen to it outside of Messenger. That is also possible. Simply follow the steps in the linked instructions.

Voice message as a ringtone

Incidentally, once saved voice messages can also be used as ringtones. In the linked tutorial we will explain how to do this.
