Checking and establishing guarantees is an integral part of a good agreementSecretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Chamkhani said on Twitter on Tuesday. Iran demands, among other things, that the lasting reintegration of the United States into the agreement signed in 2015, which Washington left unilaterally in 2018 under the presidency of Donald Trump by reimposing American sanctions against Tehran, be guaranteed. “Proven American dishonesty is the gravest threat to any deal“Assured Ali Chamkhani, adding that”the real lifting of sanctions means that Iran will be able to enjoy credible and lasting economic benefits.»

Signed in 2015 by Iran, Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia, and the United States, the Iran nuclear deal provided for sanctions relief on Tehran in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program. But with the reinstatement of US sanctions, Iran has reneged on its commitments. Since late November, talks in Vienna directly involving the remaining signatories and indirectly Washington have been trying to salvage the deal. A deal is “at hand“, provided that the American and European parties”be seriousin their desire to return to full compliance with the text, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Monday. Also on Monday, European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell tweeted, firmly believe that a deal is in sightafter a call with Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

Visiting Tehran, Irish Foreign and Defense Minister Simon Coveney said the Western parties to the deal were “deeply committed to making it work“. The Irish Minister is acting as a facilitator for Resolution 2231 endorsing the 2015 agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA.
