A clear sign that your pregnancy is nearing its end is pelvic labor. You can read here how you recognize them and how they differ from real contractions.

Yours Pregnancy is coming to an end, soon you will have made it and will finally hold your baby in your arms. But until then, your body is diligently preparing for the birth – above all your uterus. Of the Muscle contracts and trains over and over again throughout your pregnancy, what you might call slight contractions feel. When your baby is ready to give birth, they will eventually become real labor. Before that, you will probably notice a hard stomach again and again from around the 20th week of pregnancy (20th week of pregnancy). These are the so-called training contractions that finally take place in the last 4 weeks (36th week of pregnancy) before the birth Labor pains pass over. The contractions, however, are still part of the practice contractions, as it prepares the birth but does not initiate it. Labor pains but have no effect on the cervix.

What are lower pains anyway?

Around the 36th week of pregnancy you will feel more swaying pains.

This is how low labor feels like:

  • they last about 30 seconds to a minute
  • they recur irregularly over several hours
  • the intervals between contractions are relatively long and last 10 minutes or more
  • they are noticeable by pulling in the back or abdomen (similar to menstrual pain) down to the thighs
  • its intensity differs from woman to woman – some do not feel it at all, others have to breathe the contractions
  • The shape of the abdomen changes during contractions: While the abdomen was shaped like a "C" before the contractions, it now looks more like an inverted question mark "¿".

Note: If the labor pains occur more than three times an hour or ten times a day, you should consult your doctor. The same applies if the pain increases.

What do sabotages do?

The contractions make it slip Baby deeper in the pool and takes his Birth position on. This will lower your stomach. Positive side effect: you get back better airbecause the baby no longer presses the diaphragm as much. The baby no longer presses so hard on the stomach. That too heartburn should be less now. A new hormonal phase is initiated for this purpose. In the last few weeks of pregnancy, however, there may be an increased need to urinate because the baby is now pressing more on the bladder. In addition, the cervix moves forward from the sacrum towards the pubic bone. These cause changes in some women Discomfort and pain. The pressure of the head creates friction on the pelvic floor, which can be perceived as twitching or vibrating in the vagina. And last but not least, there is usually a tug in the lower back as soon as the down pains occur.

In contrast to the previous labor pains, which you can hardly feel most of the time So contractions can not only be painful, but also have an impact on the patient cervix to have. This loosens and shortens up to the due date (cervical maturation). In this phase at the latest, you should also pack your clinic bag and buy the last things for the initial baby equipment, if something is still missing.

By the way: In women who have already given birth to a child, the pains do not appear until later or sometimes shortly before the birth.
