Sennheiser has cult status in many respects. In the audiophile community, for example, the company is considered the ultimate in reference and studio headphones with its HD600. As a German success story after the Second World War, the company is a prime example. You can’t get around the name when it comes to audio of any kind. Bluetooth headphones are no different.
The company was founded by Fritz Sennheiser shortly before the end of the Second World War and has been manufacturing studio, transmission and audio technology equipment ever since. The company currently has ten different Bluetooth devices on offer; we look at the four most popular of them and introduce them to you with their properties.
The price range for the Sennheiser headphones we have selected is quite large, ranging from the 80 euros that are charged for the cheapest in-ear headphones to around 370 euros for the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless. Below is everything you need to know about the devices.
Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless
The best and at the same time most expensive Bluetooth headphones in Sennheiser’s current range are the Momentum 4 Wireless – a direct competitor to the similarly expensive Sony WH-1000XM5 and Apple’s significantly more expensive AirPods Max. The headphones offer a sound of the absolute upper class and a grandiose noise Cancelling, which, however, does not quite come close to the WH-1000XM5.
In addition to the many additional functions, the relatively sober but contemporary design of the Momentum 4 Wireless is also impressive. The battery life is quite high at around 60 hours, and Bluetooth 5.2 with Multipoint and aptX Adaptive are also supported. The splash water protection according to IPX4 rounds off the experience with the headphones, which cost around 370 euros. They are available from online sellers from as little as 280 euros.
Sennheiser HD 450BT
The HD 450BT comes from Sennheiser’s HD series, which also includes the well-known and popular Sennheiser HD600. The main focus of these headphones is support for Bluetooth 5.0, multipoint, high-quality audio codec aptX Adaptive, as well as great sound, which pleased many testers.
In view of the slightly lower price of around 140 euros, you shouldn’t expect much from the active noise suppression, but it’s a nice to have. Operation is also made intuitive thanks to the Sennheiser app. The headphones come in two different colors and are available outside the Sennheiser store from around 100 euros – so it’s worth keeping an eye out for bargains here too.
Sennheiser Momentum TrueWireless 3
Away from the over-ear headphones to the wireless in-ear models from Sennheiser: The Momentum True Wireless are the top TWS from the German manufacturer and are in direct competition with the AirPods Pro 2 and the Sony WF-1000XM4. Not only the high-quality Sennheiser sound is convincing here; the chic design with the fabric-covered charging case also speaks for the headphones.
The adaptive noise canceling function, which automatically adjusts to the noise level, also makes the headphones very attractive. The scope of delivery includes a large number of different silicone attachments and ear plugs, which ensure a secure hold. Thanks to the splash water protection, you can also use the headphones while jogging or in the rain. They have a playing time of around 28 hours with the case and cost around 175 euros in stores, but 259 euros directly from Sennheiser.
Sennheiser Sport True Wireless
As is the case with many other audio companies, the manufacturer offers sports-mad Sennheiser fans TWS headphones specially designed for sports. Here, Sennheiser advertises the Sport True Wireless with a rich sound and adjustable sound settings, but unfortunately not with active noise suppression – this is not installed here.
The IP54 protection protects against sweat, splash water and dust during sports. The battery life of 27 hours with the case also allows longer sports sessions without having to connect the headphones to the power supply in between. The hold in the ear is secured thanks to the ear hooks. For around 100 euros you get a clean audio experience that doesn’t stop at workouts and the like.
