Sennheiser redesigns its mobile app and improves Ambeo connectivity

Released three years ago, the Ambeo benefits at the end of March 2022 from a brand new operating system. This important software update is accompanied by a total redesign of the Smart Control application.

Despite increasingly fierce competition (Sony HT-A7000, Devialet Dione, etc.), Sennheiser is undeterred and is deploying a major update for the Ambeo, its star soundbar. This hosts a brand new operating system, soberly called AMBEO | OS, which notably provides support for the AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect protocols, in addition to Google Chromecast already present at the launch of the bar.

With this increased connectivity, the Ambeo confirms its hegemonic position in our soundbar comparison. As a reminder, the Ambeo won us over with its stunning 3D spatialization, intuitive handling, complete connectivity and, of course, incredible acoustic performance. Excellence comes at a price, however, with the Ambeo priced at €2,500.

The update is accompanied by the launch of a dedicated web interface allowing you to control the bar without having to download the Smart Control companion app. Sennheiser also announces that it has improved the connection stability between the Ambeo and the Smart Control app by using a wifi connection rather than Bluetooth.

The Smart Control app also benefits from a complete facelift and becomes much more pleasing to the eye, but also more intuitive. In addition, Sennheiser has implemented new features in it. Sound Check helps guide the user to find the EQ profile that suits them best, while Sound Zones offers, like Sony’s Adaptive Sound Control, programming EQ profiles and active noise reduction depending on the places frequented.
