Active noise canceling is commonplace in headphones now, although not all are created equal. Many slightly higher-end models also offer a “transparent” mode to, on the contrary, remain perfectly aware of our sound environment.
Among the noises that can interfere with us, there are those emitted by our own body. Once you’re cut off from the outside, heartbeats, breathing, footsteps feel like they’ve been amplified.
Aware EQ and Adaptable Acoustic
Adaptable Acoustic is a strange system developed by the manufacturer allowing you to choose between closed or open ear adapters while modifying the equalizer in order to find the ideal sound balance for your training. A Focus setting, used with the adapter closed, is designed to block out external sounds as much as possible.
In parallel, Sennheiser has also developed the Aware EQ which allows, while remaining aware of the environment, the reduction of parasitic noise generated by the human body. A runner will thus see the sound of his stride or that of the beating of his heart reduced.
Features and prices
As for the features, the Sport True Wireless offer dynamic 7mm drivers designed to deliver “full bass and great clarity without distortion”, in the words of the manufacturer.
The headphones have touch controls, support voice assistant and embed Bluetooth 5.2 while being compatible with audio codecs like SBC, AAC and aptX. They are IP54 certified and should therefore withstand sweat as well as light rain. However, it is safer to store them under cover during a heavy downpour. Regarding the case, it allows you to recharge the headphones to extend, by 18 hours, the 9 hours of basic autonomy announced.
