EasyPark, one of Europe’s largest parking apps, has fallen victim to a hacker attack. According to the manufacturer EasyPark Group, data such as name, telephone number, physical address, email address and, in some cases, IBAN or credit/debit card numbers were stolen in the attack. However, the company sees no cause for concern and describes the information as “non-sensitive customer data”.
In addition, it is not possible to pay in your name with the stolen data. Because EasyPark would only save part of the payment information when booking with a credit card or IBAN. The stolen data is therefore incomplete and not suitable for misuse. Despite this assessment, the EasyPark Group warns of an increase in phishing emails that could reach you as a result of the hacker attack.
All necessary measures have now been taken to combat the hacker attack. The security gap was closed, affected users were informed and their passwords were reset.
