Sentenced to 19 years in prison, a pedophile released after only 7 years, a shocking decision

One of the most heavily convicted pedophiles in Belgium has just been released discreetly on May 4, 2023. The victims, in shock, learned the news through the press this Wednesday, July 5.

“A slap in the face for all victims, all services, including the police.” It is in these words that the president of the Child Focus foundation evokes in “Gazet van Antwerpen” a Belgian court decision, handed down in early May 2023. The Ghent sentence enforcement court decided to conditionally release an infamous Dutch child criminal: Pieter C. The man had been sentenced in 2016 to one of the heaviest in the country’s history for this type of case. He was sentenced to serve 19 years in prison. In the end, he only made seven.

As soon as the news of his release was announced, the associations of victims of pedophilia protested against a decision deemed incomprehensible. The fact of having waited several weeks before making this choice of conditional release public is also criticized. In 2016 during the trial, Pieter C.’s lawyers felt that their client’s conviction was far too harsh. However, the alleged facts are very serious.

Nearly 400,000 pornographic films and photos found

Prior to his arrest, Pieter C was a banker and financial investment adviser. He is then the subject of an investigation which leads to the discovery nearly 400,000 child pornography films and photos on his personal computer. While continuing their research, the investigators discover chilling facts. The man and his wife ran an orphanage in Cambodia. A place where they had even adopted a child. This orphanage was, according to the results of the investigation, a cover to hide his pedophile activities.

Since his release in early May, Pieter C. has reportedly returned to his country of origin, the Netherlands. According to information from the Gazet van Antwerpen, he now lives in Amsterdam.
