Language is soooooo important in terms of self-confidence! A small change in vocabulary can do wonders.

Do you only come across with self-confidence when you pose in front of the mirror with sunglasses at home? Nonsense, it won’t be that bad! Nevertheless, here are a few tips for you to make yourself tougher and more determined in front of others. Sure, you don’t learn to be confident overnight. Otherwise there would hardly be countless coaching sessions that managers use, for example. But you can get started by taking a closer look at your language. Or rather, filter them on three specific sentences:

“If not, then it doesn’t matter”

Well, how often do you utter a request that you then unfortunately totally invalidate with this sentence? Be courageous to express your concern – this will not only make your fellow human beings fulfill a wish more often, but you will also appear more determined overall.

“I’d wish”

Why then the ole “would” in between? Do you wish it or not? Then just delete that very rigorously. Provides more power in your statement!

“Now that’s just an idea …”

What does “only” mean here? Most of the time, your ideas are probably pretty great. And if not, no problem either. For that it is ideas and not resolutions. So don’t sell yourself and your visions below value and introduce a proposal with something non-judgmental like “My idea is that …” or “I can imagine that …”

As you can see, turning a few small linguistic screws can make a huge difference. Whether at work or in your private life. Try reminding yourself over and over that there are more determined alternatives to the three sentences. And once you have deleted the “no-go formulations” from your vocabulary, you will surely notice one or the other change in the reactions of those around you. Bet !?
