Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II battles should be better than in the first game

ninja theory knows how to make action games, he proved it with Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DmC: Devil May Crybut it must be recognized that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, despite its many qualities, offered unexciting clashesrepetitive and permissive.

The studio, now owned by Microsoftis currently developing a sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade IIwhich is desired, but fights should be better. In any case, this is what Juan Fernandez suggests, game designer on the game that had worked on the first installment (and then went for a spin on the Fable of Playground Games) and who spoke with Vandal recently. He thus states, regarding Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice :

We did a lot of things well, but I think there are a lot of things that could be improved that I would change today. It must be remembered that the team that worked on the first Senua adventure was incredibly small for a development of this kind, around 15 people in the studio most of the time.

What I was least happy about in Hellblade 1 was the lack of enemy variety, long term combat was removed (…), the way the difficulty systems were tuned, enemies had too much life, they had a lot of durability, we had a lot of variety in attacks and combos, but the enemies don’t really encourage you to use one or the other, people were finding a couple of moves that they liked and repeated them constantly, there were very generous parry timings that can still be balanced more intelligently.

Juan Fernandez recalls that ninja theory obviously now has many more people to develop Senua’s Saga: Hellblade IIthat he has more resources to create a more ambitious game, but the studio is mainly based on the errors of the first title to offer an even better sequel. Suffice to say that the players will be entitled to be demanding at the exit of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, which unfortunately still has no release date. You can find the previous opus at 20 € on Amazon.
