SEO: What tools to generate traffic?

Referral sites for software and web services are full of suggestions for tools to generate traffic. Not all of them are worth the detour and some are to be categorized as malware. The tools discussed here have been tested.

Traffic Spirit, the ancestor

Traffic Spirit, aka Jingling, aka IPTS, is software for Windows that allows you to generate traffic in a very simple way. Some antivirus detect it as malware, but in use, it appears that it is not dangerous for the PC.

The interface is very sober, but the different options allow you to configure a fairly fine traffic that seems very natural. It is recommended to use it on a virtual dedicated server (VPS) for questions of availability: it only works if the computer is on. In the free version, it is restricted to 1,000 visits per day, spread over 24 hours. The quota of 1,000 can be split across different URLs. The maximum number of links is 10.

The parameters indicated are as follows: 42% of visits must be direct, 25% must come from a tweet, 33% from a Google keyword “first session of the National Assembly”. Visits to other pages of the site have been enabled. Visits have been regionalized to come only from France. The other parameters have been left as default.

As Matomo attests, there are a few hiccups in geographic provenance. Depending on the language of the site, this can be more or less damaging. Obviously, the use of Traffic Spirit (English version) or Jingling (Chinese version) is not without danger for monetized sites. It should not be used to increase advertising revenue, it absolutely does not work. The same goes for adf.ly type URL shorteners.

Somiibo, the ready-to-use browser

Somiibo is a browser that offers several modules, including two dedicated to generating traffic on websites.

The configuration of the parameters is simple and allows to give finer results than with Traffic Spirit. The free version of the software does not allow you to choose the origin of the proxies.

Unlike Traffic Spirit, Somiibo respects geographical criteria well. It is not possible to give him a precise number of visits. So you have to launch the browser and let it work in a corner.

The tool is equipped with a viewer, which allows you to see exactly how the browser behaves at the time of visiting the specified page. There is also a “logs” tab, which gives some session statistics.

As with Traffic Spirit, it is not recommended to use it to increase advertising revenue. However, it has proven particularly effective on some online survey sites. Indeed, the latter did not understand that it was a robot and credited the user with points. It also works on sites that promise prize pools for clicks on a shared link.

10KHits, the exchange platform

10KHits is a traffic exchange platform. The process is very simple: Internet users visit your site for a defined time in a viewer and in exchange, you do the same.

There are no technical prerequisites, all you need is a browser. All types are accepted: blogs, sites, LinkedIn page, video, audio, etc. A banner indicates the time remaining on the page and the points. Adult content is accepted and earns more points when viewed.

It is not possible to configure anything, in free version, in 10KHits. The duration depends on the number of points accumulated. The geographical origin and the browser are not at all in the hands of the person requesting visits, which can constitute a brake.

The sites to visit are very diverse: there are sites for private insurance as well as for American university campuses, as well as Russian blogs or portfolios of photographers. Insofar as the user is very passive in viewing, this has no interest in increasing his advertising revenue and it has no interest in improving his referencing either. This can have a short-term effect on a site’s traffic.

The three tools presented fulfill their initial promise, namely, to generate traffic.
