PARIS, Oct 10 (Reuters) – Part of Sephora stores reopened in Russia on Monday under the Ile de Beauté name, the Russian company said, after a months-long hiatus following the war in Ukraine.

“A lot of things have changed since our last meeting,” the Russian company said, speaking to its customers. “We have been forced to suspend activity in our stores but we have retained all jobs and continued to support employees, while working in parallel on the redesign of internal business processes.

Sephora, which owned 88 stores in Russia and employed 1,200 people, announced in July an agreement to sell 100% of the subsidiary’s shares in Russia following the war in Ukraine.

Ile de Beauté is a Russian chain acquired in 2016 by Sephora, owned by the LVMH group. (Report Alexander Marrow; with Mimosa Spencer in Paris, French version, French version Laetitia Volga, edited by Sophie Louet)
