Julia Roberts (56) answered a fan question about her past film successes on the talk show “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen (55). As a clip at X shows, When asked which of her films she would like to make a sequel to, Roberts explained that she could imagine a sequel to “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” She also gave the reason for this.

So many people appeared in the 1997 romantic comedy that a sequel could show “what they do and how Kimmy and Michael’s marriage evolved,” Roberts explained. Directed by PJ Hogan (61), Roberts plays restaurant critic Jules, who realizes that she is in love with her long-time best friend Michael (Dermot Mulroney, 60) after he reveals to her that he is with his new love Kimmy (Cameron Diaz, 51) is engaged.

In her desperation to win his heart, Jules tries to prevent the wedding and, out of desperation, fakes an engagement to her gay best friend George (Rupert Everett, 64). In the end, however, Michael celebrates a happy ending with Kimmy. Another fan asked Roberts: “Who do you think Michael should have married in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’?” The actress promptly replied on the talk show: “Of course Jules. But he married Kimmy.”

The film was released in 1997 and grossed around 300 million US dollars (around 278 million euros). In 2019, the four main actors Roberts, Mulroney, Diaz and Everett celebrated a reunion and posed for the cover of the US magazine “Entertainment Weekly”. Mulroney was said to have been moved to tears by the meeting, as it was on the Entertainment Weekly page said: “I think about these people every day. Because every day for the past 22 years people come to me and talk to me about this film.”
