Streaming platforms never stop reviving old glories of the big and small screen. The proof with the announcement, last week, of a sequel to blade runner, in the continuity of the original film and its second part. After 2049, we will move forward another 50 years. Blade Runner 2099 will be produced by Amazon Studios and will be released as a series, presumably on Prime Video. Ridley Scott, director of the 1982 film, is said to be invested in the project, which he will co-produce. He could even direct some episodes, according to Deadline. Unlike its competitors Amazon and Disney, Netflix has long decided to bet on original stories, often inspired by real events. The torchKoh-Lanta version of The flame, slated for release in May. The schemer Infinitia space thriller set both on Earth and on the ISS, is scheduled for April, while Suicide bomber will arrive on March 16. Canal+ also recovered The Respondera detective series starring Martin Freeman.
On the OCS side, we continue to exploit the HBO vein as long as we can. We will therefore expect a great deal from We Own This Citythe new mini-series from the creator of TheWire David Simon, back in Baltimore for the occasion. Another HBO mini-series, Irma Vep will see Frenchman Olivier Assayas return in his own footsteps with an international cast led by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Macaigne and Nora Hamzaoui. The White House Plumber will be centered on the men commissioned by Richard Nixon in the Watergate affair, with Justin Theroux and Woody Harrelson in the cast. The Orange platform has also acquired Steven Moffat’s new series, The Time Traveler’s Wife.
