The 2023 edition of the Series Mania Festival has just ended in Lille where the jury has dedicated one of the productions from around the world. Discover the winners.
Eighty-five thousand participants, series and talents from all over the world… the 2023 edition of the Series Mania Festival ended on March 24 after a week of meetings and screenings.
Small screen enthusiasts were able to exchange a few words with American stars Brian Cox and Marcia Cross, during their respective masterclasses. Or discover series in preview such as Salade Grecque by Cédric Klapisch, which follows on from his film trilogy, as well as Transatlantique, an ambitious international production by Netflix.
This year’s awards show once again the diversity of the series presented at the Festival. As for the international competition, it is the jury composed in particular of Lisa Joy (Westworld), Emmanuelle Béart and Lou Doillon who selected the four winners among the nine series presented in world or international premiere.
And it is the Iranian comedy The Actor, which does well. It follows two unemployed actors who are hired to play improbable roles in real life. We should also note the prize for French actress Margot Bancilhon for De Grâce, to be discovered this fall on Arte.
In the comedy category, it is the dystopian series Rictus with Fred Testot which leaves with the honors. This OCS production takes us into a world where laughter is forbidden… A pitch that seems to have pleased the jury a lot.
